Domestic and Foreign Missions

For many years, the Highland congregation has made a commitment to mission works, both in our country and abroad.

We are currently supporting foreign mission works in Honduras and Chimala Africa. We also provide support for and Truth for Today publications, which provides literature support to native foreign preachers worldwide.
We also support a number of domestic works, including smaller congregations that are trying to become more established in their communities, evangelistic publications and the prison ministries.

As a member of the Highland church, you are provided regular opportunities to provide financial assistance for much of this work through our regular contributions as well as our special fifth-Sunday special contributions. We continue to be encouraged by the generosity and commitment of our members to providing this support which extends our benevolent and evangelistic efforts. Over the years, many people have been brought to Christ through the mission works we support.

Mark 16:15 And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.  Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

Benevolence

We try to respond, as appropriate, to requests for assistance from within the congregation and by our neighbors in the Tecumseh area and those who are traveling through the Tecumseh area. We maintain a food pantry for the purpose of providing food to those in need. Through our food pantry, our budget, and the quarterly special contributions we will continue to meet the needs of many that cannot help themselves.

We have a monthly food ministry that provides large quantities of food to approximately 70 families per month in the Tecumseh area. We also try to minister to the spiritual needs of those we help. We have lots of membership participation in this very rewarding ministry.

From time to time, we are also called upon by other area charitable organizations to provide one- time assistance.

Galatians 6:10

So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.

Local Evangelism

The Highland congregation is committed to sharing the Gospel, the good news about the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ with others in our community. Some of the ways that we will do this are:

· A personal approach to teaching others in and around the Tecumseh area about obeying the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

· Our annual gospel meeting focused on reaching out to the lost.

· Sound biblical teaching from our pulpit.

Matthew 28:19-20

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Children’s Home Ministry

We support a number of orphanages and children’s homes throughout the state and country. We are committed to helping provide a stable, Christian environment for children so that they may have an opportunity to learn about God and follow Jesus Christ.

Through both our budget and the quarterly special contributions we will continue to meet the needs of many that cannot help themselves.

James 1:27

Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.
